Hall Overnight

On Friday 22nd March 2013, a total of 37 members stayed in the hall for an overnight. Initially, we had intended to stay in our tents behind the hall, but this plan had to be aborted due to the very heavy rain which made ground conditions unsuitable. We had 28 Macaoimh staying, together with Leaders, Scouts and Ventures. The evening commenced at 7pm with roll call and games and then we walked to Frankfield Driving Range where the owner, Colman Ryan, generously allowed free access to the range for our budding Rory McIlroys. Some mighty swings and powerful drives (most on target ! ) were evident.

On return to the hall, the big screen was put up in order to watch some DVDs. However, that plan didn't last long, as our hungry Macaoimh scoffed the tasty burgers and chips delivered from Boston Grill. Sometime after 11pm, sleeping bags were unrolled and everyone snuggled down for a good nights sleep - or so the Leaders hoped !!! - eventually, after much laughter, giggling and good humoured wise-cracks, tiredness overcame the entire hall and by 2am, only the odd snoring Scout ( Jason ) and Leader (John) broke the sleepy silence.
Morning came much too early at around 6.15am with everyone up at 7 for a choice of cereal. Parents arrived at 9am to take the weary Macaoimh home. Everyone agreed that it was a great night and we all look forward to our weekend in Fota in May.
